Overview
By leveraging StoriesOnBoard MCP - Model Context Protocol, Claude can programmatically "read" your SRD and instantly generate a structured story map automating the creation of the horizontal backbone, functional user steps, and detailed user stories. This "agentic planning" workflow, showing how AI can eliminate manual data entry, identify architectural gaps in real-time, and ensure your visual roadmap remains perfectly synced with your technical requirements.
How to connect StoriesOnBoard MCP Server with Claude Code
Before you connect make sure that StoriesOnBoard Model Context Protocol (MCP) is enabled on your workspace. During the Beta Program, you may contact to our team via email support@storiesonboard.com or text in the built-in chat for clarification.
💡 Follow this guide:
Create a story map on StoriesOnBoard
StoriesOnBoard offers multiple ways to create your story map according to the right approach. To build a map from the ground with Claude create a story map from scratch.
💡 Tip : How to create a story map
You will end up with an empty map like this:
Feed your Software Requirement Document (SRD) to Claude Code
Go back to Claude and provide access to your Software Requirements Document and write the initial prompt to start mapping out the user journey and collect user stories.
Create the story map based on your SRD
In this example I used the following prompt to my food delivery app called QuickBite:
Prompt:
QuickBite App I have a product idea. I put this idea into a Software Requirement Document to start the brainstorming process. I want you to read this attached SRD and map out the story map identifying Activities and Tasks and Subtasks on the story map called QuickBite and create the cards.
Then Claude will map out the user journey. Which you can also follow on StoriesOnBoard and follow the process of how the story map is being built.
As the process continues according to your request, user stories are also being brainstormed and accessible on the story map visually to discuss it further with your team.
The result
Refine the story map
As more details come to light, you can interact with your story map through the MCP server and make adjustment, refine, create new backlog items, detail them and make changes as you go.
💡 Tip : Communicate easier with Claude by Turning on Card IDs
