What are insights

Insights serve as the foundation for organizing feedback and can be grouped into user-centric feature ideas later. They help track product-related feedback from different channels, making it easier to prioritize and plan effectively.

You can collect all types of feedback in StoriesOnBoard coming from different channels, should those be external (users, clients or customers) or internal sources (development team, design team, sales, marketing or support).

We encourage you to start collecting small bits of information first (not entire feature ideas) - we call these ‘insights’ in StoriesOnBoard. This will give you plenty of flexibility later to group some of these ideas and issues into user-centric feature ideas.

Type of insights

Record all product insights along with related contact information coming from:

  • User feedback forwarded by the support team

  • Ideas of the dev or product team

  • Feature requests of the client

  • Insights gained from user interviews or surveys

  • Bits of some inspiring articles you found online

  • Etc.

Who can create create insights

Insights can be added by a licensed user internally using the Feedback management component in StoriesOnBoard. In this case the newly created insights can also be linked to an idea or turn the insight into an idea if required.

In the other hand, when stakeholders and users are sending their feedbacks, they will land in the insight inbox as insights. Therefore your stakeholders, clients and users can also create and send you their insights via multiple channels.

How to create insights

Create insights as a licensed user internally

If you are a licensed user with access to Feedback management, you can simply follow these steps to create a new insight:

  1. Visit the "Insights" menu

  2. Select the "Add new insight" option

  3. Enter the description of your insight

  4. Include an email address

  5. Then proceed with "Save and add another insight" or with the "Save insight" option

Submit an insight as an external user

If you are an external user, you can submit your insights to the team as following:

  • via email to a given email address - if the team set that up

  • through a portal - if you have access to any portals

Submit an insight through a portal by opening the portal and select "Submit feedback".

Enter your insight or feedback's description and your contact email address and select the "Submit feedback" option.

How to customize insights

To organize and manage your insights efficiently, you can perform the following:

  • Tag insights

  • Mark insights important

  • Move insights to lists

  • Connect insights to ideas

  • Convert insight into an idea

  • Link insight to a user story in the backlog
