Intro
Writing user personas during the product discovery process is crucial because it helps the team understand the target audience's needs, behaviors, and pain points. By creating detailed representations of ideal users, product teams can align on who they are designing for, ensuring the product meets real user demands.
Personas also help prioritize features and design decisions by focusing on user-centered goals. Lastly, they facilitate communication across the team, ensuring everyone shares a clear vision of the user.
Writing user personas with AI
If you're new to StoriesOnBoard AI, please see the related pages below:
Before asking StoriesOnBoard AI to create user personas, you need to describe the product in more detail in the Product description menu.
(If it's empty, you'll be redirected automatically when clicking on any of the AI functions)
To get the first user personas, open the personas menu from the top right toolbar, then click the AI button.
Note: if you already have personas, StoriesOnBoard AI can write new or niche user personas.
After clicking the AI button, you'll get six persona ideas with the following details:
imagery name + avatar
role
short description
custom fields based on your workspace settings
After selecting the one (or more) you like, it will be added to the story map's persona list — so you can easily assign it to backlog items.
How to customize persona fields
If you want to change the default persona attributes, you can easily update and extend the information structure you want to see on a persona card by following these steps:
Open the global persona panel from the navigation bar
Click Settings
Add or remove custom fields
Note: only text-type attributes are filled out by StoriesOnBoard AI. Scale-type attributes must be set up manually.
How to improve AI results
The product description highly influences the AI-generated content you add. Updating this information is crucial for better suggestions.
You can open the product description form by opening the AI assist menu.
Although the Target users field is optional, we would like to encourage you to add details. This field can influence StoriesOnBoard AI's user persona recommendation.
You can add directions like "remote workers," "students," etc.
