How to copy/duplicate your story map

To create a copy of your story map you need to proceed as you would create a new story map.

  1. Select the product where the story map you want to copy is located

  2. Proceed to create a new story map. You have two options for this:

    1. Create story map on the product dashboard

    2. Create story map in "Story maps" menu

  3. In the popup window select "Create by copy"

  4. In the dropdown menu select the story map you want to duplicate

  5. Click on "Continue"

  6. Update the basic details of the story map

    1. story map's name

    2. story map's description

    3. collection

  7. Update "Collaborators & visibility" of your new story map

    1. story map's visibility (private, product visible, public)

    2. assign collaborators

    3. enable comments (optional)

  8. Proceed with "Finish" to create the new story map

Which settings will be copied with the story map

When you copy a story map it will keep the following settings as the original story map:

  • board hierarchy and releases

  • all cards will be copied

  • card assignees

  • user personas

  • card annotations

  • statuses

  • custom workflow settings

⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️

Please note that when you copy a story map all cards are going to be disconnected from the issue tracker system on the copy you create. Cards will stay connected with your issue tracker system on the original story map.

Be aware that currently all inputed prioritization value on the "Planning" view of the story map will be reseted on the copy you create.

Step-by-step guide to copy/duplicate your story map

To proceed to create a copy of one of your story maps, first you need to select the product where this story map is located.

Once you accessed the product you can create a new story map directly on the product dashboard as following:

Alternatively, you can also visit the "Story map" menu and select "Add a new story map".

Any of the above options you select you will land on the following screen where you can select the "Create by copy" option from the list.

Afterwards, a wizard will guide you through on the settings of your new story map you create. First, you need to select the story map you want to duplicate.

Then you need to setup the name of your new story map, its description and you can place it into a collection as well.

In the next step you will be asked to setup the visibility of your new story map and add collaborators and setup commenting options.

Once you are all set and clicked on "Finish" your new story map will be created based on the story map you selected.
