Who can copy and paste a card

Anyone who has access to the story map and holding a valid editor license can copy and paste a card.

How to copy and paste a card

  1. Select the card you want to duplicate

  2. Use keyboard to copy a card

    1. CTRL + C on Windows

    2. COMMAND + C on MacOS

  3. select a card on the board and you will be able to paste your copy under the selected card using

    1. CTRL + V on Windows

    2. COMMAND + V on MacOS


Which card attributes will be copied with the card

When you copy and paste a card on the story map, the following attributes will be copied with the card:

  • Card title

  • Card description

  • Assigned user persona

  • Card annotations

  • Card estimation

⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️
Please note that the copied card's status will be set for ToDo and it won't be linked to issue tracker system. Furthermore, the card assignee will be also reseted.

Step-by-step guide to copy and paste a card

Select the card you want to duplicate and use the keyboard

  • CTRL + C on Windows

  • COMMAND + C on MacOS

Use the keyboard to copy a card

  • CTRL + V on Windows

  • COMMAND + V on MacOS

The card you paste will hold the same card details including card title, description, annotations, user personas, card color, and estimation.

How to copy a card between story maps

To copy a card between story maps, you must switch to the Classic story map interface on both story maps. You can any time switch between the "Classic" and "NextGen" interface as following:

Once you are viewing both story maps with the Classic interface follow these steps:

  1. Find the cards you want to copy

  2. Select the card (not open it) and use CTRL + C or COMMAND + C

  3. Open the map where you want to paste the card

  4. Find the card you wish to paste the copy underneath

  5. Select the card (nor open it) and use CTRL + V or COMMAND + V

  6. The copy will be pasted under the selected card
