How to access release details?

Release management in StoriesOnBoard has never been so easy since you can do everything straight from the board view. You can access the available options by clicking on the drop-down menu next to the name of the release.

Move releases

It is also possible to move releases by dragging them by their names and drop to the desired place. This way of use can be quite handy but also a little messy to do if there are many cards in the release. For this method, we recommend collapsing everything by using the "Collapse all" button on the upper right menu.

Archive releases

"Archive release" is putting the selected release into the archives. You can re-enable archived releases at any time. The archives are located under the "..." menu:

We recommend archiving releases when the release is no longer in use because too many cards on the board can cause performance problems.

Delete a release

If you delete a release you will have the option to move the cards from the deleted release to another release or leave them unscheduled.

Release details panel

There are some really useful features related to release management in StoriesOnBoard which can make planning and tracking the work much easier.

If we click on the drop-down menu next to the name of the release we can access the release details panel. The panel itself looks like the card's details, so let's see the differences.

On the release panel, it is possible to rename the release, to give it a description (with all the markdown formatting options) what we usually call release goal, set up a start and release date, and mark it as "Unreleased" or "Released".

Status report

We can also access the status report at the bottom of the panel.

The status report will show us the number of the stories in the release and their statuses, also we will have a circle diagram of them, where we can choose to list the cards by their status or estimation. There is an option to find the cards that don't have estimation yet. If we click an element of the diagram (for example the cards in "Doing" state) they will be filtered and highlighted on the board.

It is also possible to synchronize release details, release status, and dates with JIRA and GitHub. In case we have an established connection between StoriesOnBoard and one of the issue trackers mentioned above, we just need to go to "... / Board settings / Issue tracker integration" then tick the following checkbox:
